Hey everyone,

Today, I want to dive into something that’s been on my heart for a while, why reading the Bible is so crucial if you want to walk the walk as a true Christian. Calling yourself a Christian is one thing, but living it out is another. And guess what? The Bible is our ultimate guide for this journey, a handbook for our human and spiritual life.

First off, the Bible is the very foundation of our faith. It’s God’s Word, His love letter to us, filled with instructions, stories, and teachings that shape our beliefs and actions. Think about it: if you wanted to become an expert in any field, you wouldn’t just skim the surface. You’d dig deep, study, and immerse yourself in the subject. The same goes for our faith. Without a solid understanding of the Bible, we’re like ships without a compass, lost and directionless.

Reading the Bible allows us to know God on a personal level. It’s through His Word that He reveals His character, His promises, and His plans for us. It’s like having a conversation with God. Imagine trying to build a relationship with someone without ever talking to them or learning about them. It’s impossible, right? The Bible is God’s way of speaking to us, and by reading it, we draw closer to Him, understand His will, and grow in our faith. You only know His will if you read His Word.

The Bible has a transformative power. Romans 12:2 says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” How do we renew our minds? By immersing ourselves in God’s Word. It changes us from the inside out, aligning our thoughts and actions with God’s will. It’s not just about gaining knowledge; it’s about letting that knowledge transform us into Christ-like individuals.

In today’s world, there are so many voices trying to lead us astray. Ephesians 4:14 warns us against being “tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching.” How do we guard against this? By knowing the truth, and the truth is found in the Bible. When we’re rooted in Scripture, we can discern false teachings and stand firm in our faith.

James 1:22 tells us, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Reading the Bible is just the first step. We need to put it into practice. It’s not enough to call ourselves Christians; we must live out our faith in our daily lives. The Bible gives us practical instructions on how to love our neighbors, forgive those who wrong us, and live in a way that honors God.

Life is full of challenges, and there will be times when we feel discouraged and hopeless. The Bible is a source of encouragement and hope. It reminds us of God’s faithfulness, His promises, and His love for us. When we’re feeling down, we can turn to Scripture and find the strength to keep going.

So here’s a heads up, calling yourself a Christian without reading the Bible just doesn’t work. The Bible is essential for knowing God, transforming our lives, guarding against deception, living out our faith, and finding encouragement. So, let’s commit to reading and studying God’s Word daily. Let’s be not just hearers of the Word, but doers, living out our faith in every aspect of our lives.

Until next time, keep the faith, stay rooted in Scripture, and let God’s Word guide your path. I pray this blesses your day!

Blessings,
Peter
